Re: Delco Dramas
Not too bad. I've seen people voluntarily spend $300 cutting new tops to DOHC (or Z-series) bottoms for EFI! So as a repair that got you going, you did well. But to see even rebuilds that cost $200-$300 is a shame when usually ~$45 does a DIY or $100-$150 buys a ready made RG dizzy. And to compare t...

Re: G180W timeline
I would have thought that it went by the year of the vehicle - not the engine. But I'm used to pre-ADR vehicles so I could ignore all that and pull the stuff off G200Ws, 4ZE1s etc. (Although one RWC place wanted me to get a VicRoads statement saying my 1969 Florian was exempt (for a G200W). Needless...

Re: G180W timeline
They were available in the 1984 else 1985 ZZRs. I'm not sure about earlier.
Prior to that they were in the 117 as a carby and later EFI (1976??).
I can check if no-one else has the info...

I keep telling people, the RG dizzies are best....
PS - Todd, how much did the repair cost?
(Glad it wasn't the local green G200W Bellett that also had a noisy alternator.... (2009).)

Sounds good. BTW - my future is still Sept 2005. (Though that was recently shifted to Sept 2015...) Alas I only have Spaminator admin privileges - I reckon Poida thinks I've been corrupted by OzFem and other ex- forums. You should be able to re-edit your OP if you resize the pic appropriately, not t...

Re: Ant's g200w kalmaker
Ah, but I like power! And I too hate this 25char minimum, but it prompts me to write a more complete relpy. I take it your on-track builts is merely a recondition. As for not having the same rebuilds, I agree. But it perplexes me why people spend $thousands for performance increases less that what I...

Re: Ant's g200w kalmaker
You're probably sick of this repeat, but the old build with DCOE45s was the exhaust mod (26" 2:1 after the stock manifold) for 150HP and the ~400Nm torque (ie, up from 135HP and double the torque at half the RPM). The next stage involved engine mods - cam grind (with L1 profile for road use) an...

Re: G161W-G180W-G200W bearing sets (including cam bearings)
My Honda motorcycle mate says that being a main bearing in a modern bike that is producing 39 kW at 11,000 rpm and 39 Nm at 9500 rpm and with more oil flow due to the trench in it ... LOL! And less to the big ends.... (which only handle 400Nm of rear-wheel else engine toque). But everyone knows it'...

Re: Hello - New to TwinCams
AGREED!!! IMO never cut up existing well-made stuff for the G-W series. Having said that, very few DOHC extractors are better than the standard exhaust manifold - at least for the G200Ws. It is best to extend from the manifold. However in Geminis you may have no choice (unless perhaps if using the d...

Re: Hello - New to TwinCams
Thanks Poida. I still get a laugh when anyone mentions the advantages of <various EFIs'> multi-maps - it appears they still don't get it. (Or is it me - still not getting why people MANUALLY chose maps or use Hall-Effect ignitions or oil-pressure controlled fuel pumps... Oh... I do know - people lik...

Isuzu 117 XT Coupe on eBay (G200Z, auto, red, 1979)
With thanks to my bro, from ebay-au-item 120740963573 26June2011, starting at $3,500. For that price I was really keen. It's not too far from me, and I wouldn't mind a modern car. But it's a G200Z (not a G200W). Worse than that, it's an auto. Rats! But those wing mirrors should suit my red Florian. ...

Re: Hello - New to TwinCams
Oh well, get low comp pistons then. And whatever EFI to suit (ie Delco).
In the meantime you can go for the torque boost - it's virtually free with a 4:2:1 exhaust - just extend the twin section to about 26"-29". (That's from the standard manifold.)

Re: Hello - New to TwinCams
Are your extractors 4:1? (4 into 1; or 4:2:1?) I got a Heavy Duty Rodeo clutch for mine, but I don't know what sort. The pressure plate was marked ASCO CG-006 5EL-2, the clutch plate was an R847W. But use hydraulics if you can - clutch cables would only last a few months.... The forgies (from USA) t...

Re: Hello - New to TwinCams
F2 is the Weber emulsion tube. Don't bother tuning Webers for a DOHC until you have those. Standard was a manifold (4:2) with a 2:1 exhaust. Extractors were not standard. Nor are extractors likely to be better than the standard manifold (though some have been designed properly) - but those I know of...

Re: Hello - New to TwinCams
My opinion on multiple maps is it's great for those that think they need them. (But they don't... there are far superior methods.) If I could pose the issue another way, how is <whichever> map selected? (Do you hence see their failure?) Alas I don't know the build of the turbo G200W, I only know of ...

Re: Hello - New to TwinCams
Welcome! For EFI I'd suggest Delco. Why would you want Haltech or uTech? (Hopefully not multiple maps and expensive upgrades?) And you'd probably need to regrind the cams - but make sure you know which grind, there are lots of stupid ideas out there (like Celica cams!). What sort of carbies does it ...

I doubt that they will be " original ", but if they are like Elky's, they'll be better anyhow. And despite Elky suggesting ours were different in Fs weber manifolds , I'm fairly sure that are the same.... I have yet to see anything similar. Mine were from a batch designed and commissioned ...

Keep in mind my current unfiscal situation (aka reality) and that I don't care about SOHC - I have OHV & (G200W) DOHC only. But let's just say that for (say) 2 DOHC cam bearing sets, I'm prepared to bumfuck, so the intent is there.... PS... Not to bumfuck, but get DOHC cam bearings no matter how...

My round tuit list includes cam bearings. My guru informed me that they were still readily available for about $14 each should I need them. This was a few years ago but long after all reckoned they were long gone, and long after I gave up on replies from others in this or other forums that claimed t...
