LPG Injection

A little sneak preview of what I'd ultimately like to set up on a G series engine. If I ever do it, I'll most likely set up on a single cam engine. This is the future of LPG engines. Gone are the days power loss, excessive gas consumption, of gas rings or even mixers similar to a carburettor in appe...

An AKFL2168 chip is the correct chip for an early JE 2 litre port injected engine with a manual transmission. That chip was superseded because the engines pinged under certain load conditions. In the G series engine that may not happen or it might be worse. Can't really say how it will differ. The m...

Anything can be improved for a price.

If it were me needing an improved oil pump, I'd be off to an aircraft wreckers and get hold of a two or three stage dry sump oil pump with a remote oil storage tank. You also need a modified sump and do a bit of work to block off the original oil pickup.

I think you should get the engine in front of you to begin with. Speculating about what is best before actually knowing what it has fitted now is probably a bit premature. It might be a perfectly good system with some simple to fix faulty component causing it to run in LHM. Many things can do that s...

Have a look at the memcal inside the removable cover at the end of the computer. You can see a silver sticker with a code printed on it. Post that actual code that is written on the chip. First step is to see if the chip is even at all suitable for the application you have there. What happens when y...

I think standard G series rings will suit. perhaps one of the other members can verify that. Just be sure to only buy standard type (plain cast iron) rings to quickly bed and seal as well as minimising bore wear. Never use chrome-moly rings because they will wear the bore sooner and don't really off...

Standard clutches are often rebuilt in batches. A single, one off rebuild is more costly and something like that one is going to cost a fair bit more. Looking at your clutch plate, I'm presuming the pressure plate is also modified (not standard) so unless a conpany has the required components to bui...

The Delco will fire an engine up without most sensors but only in limp mode. You need a few basic components then the ECM can calculate the required amount of fuel to inject as required for any air flow quantity and engine load. Put simply, the JD Camira TBI 1.6 litre engine is a good example of the...

Yeah I drove up to Brisbane with some parts for a special project and then went on to Bundaberg for a week or so. I stopped off again in Brisbane for a day on the way back and loaded up with two Rodeo diesel engines and a gearbox then brought them back home via Sydney.

Any progress on these freight prices? Looking at getting started on fitting up the Delco ECM to my TC soon so I'll be needing something other than points. If possible, can you get a more detailed image or two of the actual internal mechanism of the dissy... looks like small holes in that flat metal ...

The actual MAP sensor from any Delco system using the 808 ECM should do providing you are not boosting. They don't need to attach directly to the manifold. Most are mounted to the body panels and have a vacuum hose connecting them to a barbed fitting on the plenum. It is possible to run boost with a...

It's definately there. Thanks for that.

It also matches the number on the past nine years of rego certifaicates.
Hopefully that means just present it with roadworthy certificate and pay the rego fees.

Excellent. How much did it cost for the memcal? What is the ID code on the sticker? It should be AKFL2168 or AMXY0662. The second one is preferrable as the first one was superceded due to problems with engines pinging. I'm on the lookout for any memcals I don't already have or have the .bin file for...

It could be because the TPS is not calibrated the same as the one it's expecting to see. What inlet manifold and throttle body is it fitted with? Was it a 4ZE1 combination? You might have to try and adapt the original Camira TPS if that's possible. Some shafts have the notch cut at a different posit...

I'd remove #1 spark plug and carefully watch the piston to see when it is at TDC. Check to see that it corresponds to the correct mark on the crank pulley timing mark. Once you are sure the timing mark is true, start the engine and WITH THE ENINE RUNNING, short the terminals A and B in the ALDL plug...

The computer gets it's info from the distributor. The module has two terminal plugs on it. One has two pins, that simply plugs to the coil. The other has four pins. It connects the distributor to the computer. Pin C of those four pins is the connection that tells the computer the engine is rotating ...

Might as well include the block and crank too. What reason was it pulled down for? Did you pull it down or is that how you bought it? Do you happen to still have the gaskets especially the oil pan to block gasket? Is the oil pan there somewhere too?
