Is that inc. shipping? How much is shipping?
Also I've heard the G-series engines were made from a softer metal and the wrong internals can scrape into the bores - although I think I was asking about chrome piston rings.

Twincam needs: surge tank, EFI lines, TPS, recored radiator, hoses, assemble the ECU (50% done).

Yeah just stick with moly rings or if you plan on running it hard, I'd be inclined to run plain iron rings and be prepared to replace them more often, extending the life of the bore doing so. If the rings get replaced before they wear enough to cause the piston to slap the bore or the ring grooves to wear in the piston, chances are you can get double the life from a particular piston. No one normally does that but I did with a twin cam Ford Lotus engine. Parts for them are bloody hard to find and expensive as well. They are so sought after in racing circles that the few available on the street are sold for big dollars. A worn engine suitable to rebuild is worth $2000 or more. A fully rebuilt 1600 Lotus engine is worth $4500 or more. Think I'm kidding... go buy one! My old worn engine, flywheel, clutch and box (not including Weber carbies, linkages or air filter) were bought as spare race parts. Swapped it all for two registered TE Gemini diesel cars.

I can't remember in what way, but SOHC rings are 0.4mm different in some way... I found this by just doing a google on rings for the twincam or something, and found a catalogue for some company in japan that had different part numbers to the SOHC and DOHC and one of the measurements was different by .4mm like I said.

gem gave me two mobs to talk to a while back about things for dohcs, such as piston rings.
I haven't talked to them yet because the need hasn't arison, but give them a call if you'd like.... Gem sourced his total seal gapless rings from the first mob.
APEP (Australian Precision Engine Parts) in Melbourne.
Bryant Engineering in Brisbane.

The G180Z rings should be suitable from what I've been told, but that of course depends on the manufacturer of the piston in your engine. Most G series engines use 2.0mm compression rings and 4.0mm oil rings. There are some original G series pistons that use 1.5mm compression and 4.0mm oil ring so it really does pay to check before you buy. This applies to G161Z, G180Z and G200Z engines. All can have these 1.5mm rings. Before you do anything you'll need to pull a piston out to verify what rings it has fitted. Take the pulled piston (rings still in place) to your local machining shop and they'll be able to check and ensure the rings listed are suitable.
ACL offer the following G180Z ring sets.
PS1570 - STD/0.50/0.75/1.00/1.50
2.0 2.0 4.0 plain iron rings
M1570 - STD/0.50/1.00
2.0 2.0 4.0 moly rings
PS1653 - STD/0.50/0.75/1.00
1.5 1.5 4.0 plain iron rings
M1653 - STD/0.50/0.75/1.00/1.50
1.5 1.5 4.0 moly rings
These listings are from the current ACL piston & ring catalogue (PP03).

Will do when I get a man's wrench.
If need be, can you have rings made at reasonable prices? If it's able to be done then no doubt this mob in Adelaide called OG Speed Shop will know someone who can do it.

AS Robbo said. I buy my rings from APEP in Melbourne. Just tell them the sizes you need.
Back on the topic of pistons - Pioda, you would be better of get a set of forged pistons from someone like Special Piston Servies in Melb. It cost me about $300 for one piston to be made to the exact copy of a damaged one. But would work out about $1000 for a set of 4. Thiese will be alot stonger then a cast set.
