twin cam DCOE/DHLA manifolds

Post by Coron »

Hey ya guys
I'm just about to set my g200w up with DHLAs, the problem is GT-R replica manifolds are impossible to find.
When i was talking to Elky the other day he was saying he can get mainfolds from Japan at about $500 (rough conversion) but thats still 500 bucks........ (plus postage)
i have a pic here that is of a set of DCOE/DHLA manifolds for an Isuzu twin cam, there not as fancy as the GT-R manifolds but they will work.
Image
that image is from ebay, the item sold about 9 months ago.
if anyone is interested in a set let me know, I'm not asking for a conformation, just a show of hands to see if its worth getting them laser cut or if im only making the one set ill do it with the dremmel
also, dose anyone know the maximum angle DHLAs will work at?
Thanks guys.
Harry

22,750 yen w/o linkages or 40,000 yen with

then u gotta factor in deputy auction charges and shipping

i got a get of these without linkages if you need a reference or dimensions but sorry they are not for sale

Hey ya Elky.
Ive just meassured the standard intake manifolds and there 37mm (damn crappy standard manifold) and the engine intake ports are right on 40mm.
could you measure your DCOE manifolds for me?
I keep hearing that 48mm carbs would be best....... but if the intake ports are only 40mm, 48 seems like a bit of overkill, unless the manifold went from 48 to 40mm smoothly, you may get some air speed increase, much like a ram tube
any thoughts?
Thanks guys,
Harry

40 and 45 are easy enough to find, and not overly expensive, but once you start looking for 48 I reckon you are literally doubling the price of the carbys.

Size also needs to be looked at as part of the overall package. Street use might do better with 40 or 45 giving a good overall delivery and a smoother, more responsive low speed end where the 48 may be ideal for race with sustained high revs where off the bottom acceleration isn't anticipated.

no good measuring my intake manifold as it has been fairly ported

on a DOHC bigger is better, 45mm sideys were the preferred choice for most in the know

cheers

hey ya,
Elky, last time we spoke you said you didn't have a G-W engine on sidedraught carbs at the moment, have you set one up in a gem before? it looks pretty tight in there, the booster is looking like it might be a bit of a problem.
with the manifolds you have is the carb angled to sit above the booster?
will you have enough room for trumpets/ram tubes or just filters?
if anyone has a pic of a G-W engine in a gem with sidedraught carbs it would help alot
Thanks guys.
