you could use the old shims but id get a few thou extra on the cam and machine the existing shims down. i swapped a pair of standard cams for standard and had to get the shims machined to get the valve clearance right. the problem with billets is getting the worm drive that turns the dizzy on the ea...

good work those figures sound a little bit high but only a few kw's. deffinitley change the throttle body. if you've had a chance to look at it you would of noticed how pathetic it is compared to the rest of the motor.

they change the whole profiloe of the lobe so even the spots whre the valve is shut it could be up to 2mm smaller. so you put a 2mm thicker shim under the bucket and on top of the spring. this is a preferd practice because your using the original metal on the original bucket so there is no compatabi...

yeah it sounds too cheap specially when you hear so many different stories. the one thing everyone says is dont re-weld the cams. i dont like the sound of bits of metal breaking off inside my motor especially around the cam bearing area.

found some info on cams a guy in sydney that builds rally twin cam's has a few different grinds. the problem is if you weld the cam and get it re ground it wont work with the standard buckets you end up braking the weld off so there is 3 options chrome the isuzu buckets, works sometimes. replace the...

id be upgrading the fuel pump. also if the popping is on cylinder 4 that's generally where the brake booster line is. have you got a fuel pressure gauge on the far side of the carbies that will tell you if your fuel system is adequet. even a cheap plastic one for diaginostics. do as much as you can ...

yeah they rev pretty well. the zzr dash has the redline set at 7000 rpm.
If you are going to mod it the first thing i would be doing is upgrading the throttle body its the most restrictive part of the inlet tract. How did it sound?

when you assemble it take special care setting uo the chain tension. they sound great when these motor's are put together right but one i had, the chain had stretched and there tensioner couldn't take the play out of it and it sounded ordinary.

very feasible. the standard internalls are alot stronger than gemini internals so i wouldn't worry about the toyota pistons. standard comp is about 9 something to 1. so you could deck the block abit and get it upto 10.5:1 or 11:1. throttles would be bigger than 40mm less than 50mm what ever you can ...
