Re: G180W timeline

Up here in QLD you cant put an older motor into a later model car, but as long as it was in a JDM Gemini at the same time my GMH TF was built Im cheering. They have no idea about the engine, we struggle to know the finer details at times and we love the bloody things lol so that may work in my favou...

Re: G180W timeline

I told the engineer it was 1982, same as my TF :P and on that he said all I needed was to use the Gem emissions system. Id have to imagine that anything from an Australian TE to TG should have the same emission requirements for the mod plate, they all use the same emission system standard I believe

G180W timeline

Can anyone tell me what year the G180W first made its appearance in a Gemini? I need to get a mod plate for the twin cam in my car and engineer needs to know what year it was released in a Japanese Gemini, it seems at this stage all I need for the mod plate is to have the original Holden EGR valve s...

Re: Delco Dramas

Thanks for the reply, and the link, I need to learn more on the Delco as all that info on the delco website is out of my league atm. The Gems up and running again, took it to an auto electrician who found the carrier plate in the dizzy had collapsed. Theres a plastic "shim" in between two ...

Re: Intermittent chain rattle on start up

Late reply....but been thinking of swapping front covers, I have a G200W case at home that I can use. Would I need to lift the head at all? Be rather tricky trying not to butcher that gasket at the front the chain passes through when putting new case back on. That episode with oil leaking from a hom...

Re: Intermittent chain rattle on start up

Yeah its the early type, has a 32mm brass hex plug on end of timing case. Wondered how it worked as a tensioner once I had it out as there is only a light spring and what looks like the oil squirter for the chain. No wonder it rattles bad! Its not even a tensioner no? So if I ever take the head off ...

Re: Todds G180W

Little update on the twin cam......its still going! Have had my fair share of trouble with it though, gotta be a gem thing I reckon, anything gemini is bound to play up. The engine is still a ball to drive, it pulls in 3rd gear all the way from 50kms to 110km easily and I havent yet dared wind...

Intermittent chain rattle on start up

Whats the reason behind the intermittent timing chain rattle on start up....? Motor is a g180w. Most days it wont do it, some for a second or two, others it sounds like the chains going to snap! Peoples faces in the shopping centre carpark express my horror as it continues for up to 20-30 seconds. T...

Todds G180W

Picked up another cheap twin cam, this one had been fitted to a Chevy LUV ute over ten years ago by a mate aiming to show the ute. Well ten years later I bought and scrapped the ute solely for the motor. The engine hadnt ran for over 2 years and looked rather weathered. I replaced a few sensor plugs...

LOL all sorted.... Ended up with a tiny filter off a Mazda 121 maybe? Fits perfect, the smaller size Im told should be fine, creating a tad higher oil pressure if anything. Anyone know if the 180W's cams are the same as the 200W's? Ill post some pics up over next few days of the conversion. Cheers T...

Have you tried taking that big headed bolt on the drivers side off...its the one that sits on the side of the timing cover, where the metal oil feed line runs up from the oil filter housing....

Id start there maybe....good luck LOL
