I have a set of 45mm weber dcoe and manifolds to suit. For the right price I might sell them . e-mail me a price if you don't want to talk about price on here (these were jetted for larger cams) gem@alphalink.com.au
I also have some cams and other efi stuff and spare heads
I adapted a Holden Camira / VN Commodore type unit. From memory I made a plate to mount the sensor and filled the throttle shaft to have two flats on it and fitted the little plastic cap onto the shaft.
I am finally selling my spare race car parts - Cams-Wade cams spec 695A these cams have not been used since being ground. $450 http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/2552/1494910img5si.th.jpg Custom fuel rail $100 (bare NO Injectors) this can accept standard stlye injectors (holden etc) http://img232.im...
The important part for the cam oiling is the cam bearings- the oil comes through the head and feeds the cam bearings. When you run the engine and then remove the rocker cover you will see the whole head flooded with oil.
Hope this helps.
Nice Pics :D . Number 1 is supposed to be blocked off. these are from the factory machining of the head. Number 2 is supposed to have a PCV valve or in race use going to a catch can(not road legal). The silver unit is not used on the Piazza version of this engine, a welsh plug is used to plug up thi...
If you use sohc flat top pistons (these normally raise the comp on a sohc) the compression ratio will be lowered. If you have the cc volume of the head then you can work out the ratio. I have the cc numbers at home somewhere. If you are thinking of turboing the engine then this is not a bad idea. Lu...
Last year on tha ABC show "The New Inventors" there was an aussie company in Sydney who sell LPG injectors. If you have a commodore for example you take out your onjectors and fit these lpg ones on place of them and plumb them into the gas. The ecu is untouched as the injectors were calcul...
Bradlze - I had a 1800 like this type. Yes it is a very early one. The timing chain tensioner is different as well. Your one has a threaded bolt on the tensioner and the later ones have 3 bolts holding a ratchet type tensioner. Also the big silver breather on the side of the block is not used on the...
If I had a road Gemini My road cars are a VX wagon and a new Vectra so I doubt that the twin cam would suit either. I do have another race car rusting away in my back yard, I would love to turn this back into a road/club spint car- maybe in my next lifetime I will have the time to do this.
archangel62 - Any idea what that'd cost to setup? The cost would be about the price of buying two spare twin cam engines. I have just installed one on my race car. I sourced used parts which saved me alot but it is still expensive. ............... NEW .......... USED Pump .... $1300+....... $600 Ta...
Hi Shano,
Nice to see you found this forum. That dissy setup sound interesting any pics ! . Did you get the cam bearings locally ? The sump looks great, did you make it or have it made for you.
Gem.
I still have the engine sitting at home. I have not tried to sell it. A few people I race with have asked but until I can be sure that the 3SGE engine is good and I have a spare I will keep the isuzu twin cam just incase. You can never have too many spare engines
I have used a 1227808 on a Nissan L18, great system. You just need all the matching parts if you want to use the standard memcals without alteration. I used all N13 Pulsar/ Astra Injectors, map sensor, Air temp, Water Temp, Throttle position etc.. Engine size is the same at 1.8L. (Intake manifold an...
Sorry GeminiCoupe Don't have either of those parts spare. I have various other parts but my spares are getting less and less. When I get time I will post a list of all of what is left.
My new engine which is a toyota 3sge has a head that flows 270hp and there is still a lot more in it,you will never get the isuzu engine to make that sort of power. But I will always have a soft spot for the isuzu engine.
one had a starter motor problem! -Number 4 piston cam out and broke the starter motor  The other snapped a crank and number 4 rod came through the block. I had ideas of sectioning the block so I could see the valve to piston clearance when rotating the crank with the head on or if someo...
The valves are as big as you can fit. The ports have been modified. The lift is very high. You might spend a $1000 on a flow bench again for maybe a 10-15hp gain. A 16 valve head will flow so much more due to the valve area. One thing to remember just because it doesn't have as much power as a sr20 ...
Elky- either way a starter is the least of your worries with a twin cam
I assume you mean sourcing spares - I have never had any problems sourcing parts except sump gasket and cam bearings but I have never needed these bearings anyway.
AS Robbo said. I buy my rings from APEP in Melbourne. Just tell them the sizes you need. Back on the topic of pistons - Pioda, you would be better of get a set of forged pistons from someone like Special Piston Servies in Melb. It cost me about $300 for one piston to be made to the exact copy of a d...
I have had my starters rebuilt in the past. But I have one that is destroyed so I use it for spares. I was thinking of modifying a Toyota reduction gear starter. Places like Caslte Auto or the Rod shop do similar types for everything but Gemini.
Does anyone know of any other starter motors that fit the twin cam engine? I do know that the twin cam starter is rated at 1.1kw and the sohc starter is 900watts. I have never tried a sohc starter which should have enough grunt when cold but when it gets hot it might stuggle?
I have two damaged 2.0lt twin cam blocks to give away. If anyone needs a block to use for seting up.
Ideas for uses - cut up block to measure thicknesses
- making brackets to fit onto block
- A big paper weight
pick up only from Melbourne
archangel62 - I sent you some pictures .If you want a weber stye manifold I can also sell you one of these.
I have seen in your other post people are whinging about cam bearings. I have never had any problems with mine.So don't worry to much as they rearly wear out.But yes they are impossible to find.
Poida, I ran the Delco 808 on my twin cam for a few years. I used the 2lt memcal and changed the rev limit to 7500rpm. My engine had the Holden Map,TPS,Air temp and Coolant sensors and IAC valve. I had a damaged dissy so I adapted the stock camira dissy on top of the twin cam housing ( it was a bit ...
